Location & Accommodations

Imsouane is a remote fishing village nestled in the Moroccan coastline just North of Taghazout. When I lived and worked in Morocco this is where I would spend my free time. The staff at Olo are warm and inviting, the vibe is chill and the surf is so good! Dar Zitoun (our villa) is their luxury property. There is a beautiful swimming pool with a spacious deck to do yoga on and watch the sunrise. From the patio you also get a gorgeous view of the surf below and the mountains above. Nearby are terraced Berber farm plots, crumbling ruins and the most spectacular views I have ever seen. You may spy goats in the trees eating Argan nuts, a wild herd of camels, or a sole camel heading to work with their human. The food at Olo is healthy, delicious and made from scratch. Every time I have shared a meal with them I secretly wish the Chef were my mother.

A few notes on the local surf spots . . .

THE BAY

Famous worldwide, it is a wave ideal for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an expert. when the right tide and swell meet the wave can break over 500 yards from the harbor’s jetty to the beach. When the swell is too big, the bay offers a more quiet and easy wave. Protected by the harbor’s jetty, the bay benefits from a special environment, creating smaller and eventually less windy waves.

THE REEF

The Reef is a left-hander wave breaking just in front of the central place of Imsouane. It breaks on a rocky bottom with two sections. With small swells, this wave is accessible to all surfers, from beginners to advanced. When the swell is well orientated, it becomes very shallow and barrels form. It can withstand waves up to 6 feet. This wave can get really fun with a medium swell where advanced surfers perform radical maneuvers in the shallow sections.

CATHEDRAL

The cathedral is an amazing right-hander wave that can withstand swells up to 10 ft. More technical than the bay, this wave is shallow and powerful. It is however accessible to all levels when the wave is small. With big swells, the cathedral reveals its potential, and only intermediate to advanced surfers can take on its power.
